When Silence Claims the Street

Artist’s Note

This was the first painting I made after a long period of grief, when I couldn’t bring myself to pick up a brush. I chose only what was necessary: a few colour variations, rougher brushstrokes than usual, and subtle light to breathe life into the canvas. As I painted, I realized how much I had been longing to create, like a quiet alleyway waiting to be touched by the soft glow of a lamp.

The Work 

This painting captures a quiet alleyway at night, where darkness is softened by the subtle glow of a lone lamp. Light reflects across the road and buildings, revealing texture and presence in an otherwise shadowed scene. The composition balances mystery and intimacy, creating a refined, contemplative focal point for any space.
